*****DRIVER’S ENTRY*****
1. Each Driver must be a licensed driver of at least 16 years of age and (1) Fill out and sign entry form
and (2) Sign a waiver of Liability. The Medina County Fair Board reserves the right to approve or reject
any and all entries.
2. Entry deadlines are JULY 20, 2018 AT 4:00 P.M. Mail entries must be postmarked by July 14,
2018. A $35 entry fee must accompany entry form. (Make checks payable to Medina County Fair). If
entries are made after July 20, 2018, the entry fee is $50.
3. Each entrant will receive one (1) Wristband. They must be put on as you enter through the
gate. Broken wrist bands will be replaced one for one. Deputies will be patrolling the infield (pit) area and anyone not wearing a wristband will be removed from the pit area. All other people entering the pits will be required to purchase a wrist band prior to entry in the pits.
4. ALL drivers must supply their own car and have proof of ownership (Title or Bill of Sale) at time of
inspection. (NO PROOF OF OWNERSHIP, NO RUN).
5. One entry per class per driver.
6. NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR CONSUMPTION OF ANY IMPAIRING
SUBSTANCE ON TRACK AND/OR INFIELD. THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR RESERVES THE RIGHT
TO SEARCH ANY VEHICLE ENTERING THE INFIELD.
7. Any driver not obeying rules will be disqualified.
8. Demolition Derbies are hazardous and a high risk sport. Neither the Fairboard nor Track Officials
are responsible for any injuries sustained by driver or pit crew before, during or after the event.
9. Once on the track, drivers are to answer to the Presiding Track Official or Officials.
10. Inspection of the cars will start at 2:00pm the day of the Demo Derby and will END at 6:00 p.m. We
will have out of county inspectors doing inspection in an INSPECTION AREA where only authorized
people are allowed. All cars that pass inspection will be given a “stick” and put in their heat line. No
vehicles other than derby cars are permitted in the same area as the heat lines.
11. ANY CAR NOT HAULED OFF THE FAIR GROUNDS BY 12:00 NOON, THE DAY AFTER THE
RESPECTIVE DERBY, WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR. THE
DRIVER WILL BE SUSPENDED FROM ALL DERBIES AT THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR FOR A
PERIOD OF ONE YEAR.
 
Inspection
 1. Only the driver will be permitted with each entry into the inspection area. NO SPECTATORS PERMITTED.
2. Each entry will ONLY be permitted one additional attempt through the inspection area. Build your vehicles to the rules! NO REFUNDS will be awarded for illegal entries.
3. All entries will be required to open hoods in the inspection area
4. All entries must be inspected 1 hour prior to show time. If vehicle is not in inspection line 1 hour before show starts, a $50.00 fee will be added to participate.
 
Safety
 1. Remove ALL glass, fiberglass, headlights, taillights, trim, interior, trailer hitches, etc. Vehicles must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, etc. allowed.
2. All rear seats and flooring decking must be removed. Any sharp or protruding fins must be cut off the vehicle.
3. Standard safety belts, Z-90 approved helmet, and eye protection (face shield or safety glasses) are required. Neck braces highly recommended. Fire retardant suits, clothing, or hood is recommended. No shorts or shirtless drivers will be permitted.
4. Exhaust (either zoomies or headers) must point away from fuel lines and headers must be straight in the air.
5. All hoods must have a square hole directly cut above the carb. All hood and deck lid latches must be removed.
6. Firewalls may not be totally removed. If holes are cut for clearance purposes, the holes must be covered by something fireproof. If patched with metal, the metal must not be thicker than 16 gauge.
7. No spray devises or cans permitted in the vehicle.
8. All vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times.
9. Stock gas tanks must be removed from the original position. A replacement tank must be securely fastened in the rear section (no farther forward than the back of the front seat) of the driver's compartment. Steel gas tanks or Neoprene construction approved tanks may be used. No original tanks permitted. Gas tank must be securely fastened by means other than ratchet straps or wire. Tanks must be securely bolted to the floor. Tanks must be covered in a fireproof fashion. Any vehicle that spills gas will be disqualified immediately. Gas tank protectors maybe used must have a gap between the rear deck.
10. Electric fuel pumps are permitted, but the switch must be CLEARLY marked ON/OFF.
11. Stock batteries must be removed from the original position. A battery must be located in the driver’s compartment and securely fastened to the floor. The battery must be covered.
12. No profanity will be permitted on any vehicle.
 
OLD IRON RULES:
1. Any STOCK, American made hardtop automobile or station wagon of any year is allowed. No
limousines, hearses, ambulances, convertibles, truck chassis, van, jeeps, four wheelers,
checkers, or Imperials before 1967 allowed.
2. Drivers must wear a crash helmet with shield or eye protection (full face helmet is recommended),
long pants and long sleeve shirt. Seat belts are required, shoulder harness is optional. Driver will
not extend any part of his/or her body outside of the car at any time while the car is on the track.
3. Cars must be clean. Wheel balance weights must be removed. All glass including head and tail
lights MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE ENTERING THE TRACK INFIELD, as well as ALL
CHROME TRIM Door handle, locks, window trim ETC. The windshield may be left in place.
GLASS MUST BE REMOVED FROM INSIDE OF THE CAR AND DOORS. Trunk and inside
must be empty and no weight of any kind may be added. Example: No junk tires, wheels, metal
parts, glass, etc. (PLEASE DO NOT DUMP PARTS ON INFIELD)

5. Driver’s door must be painted white. You may choose your own car number and paint it on the
car ahead of time. Roof signs are encouraged.
6. Gas tanks must be constructed of heavy gauge steel, such as Freon bottles, or heavy gauge
pipe. We will not honor GI cans, lawn mower gas cans, or boat tanks, or anything else along this
line for a tank. A maximum of five (5) gallons of gas will be allowed. ALL TANKS will have steel
straps around or brackets WELDED to the tank, which will be SECURED TO THE FLOOR. We
will not accept rope, wire, or any type of rubber tie downs. All tanks will be secured to the floor
behind the driver’s seat, in the rear seat area. It will be as close to the center of the car as
possible and not any further back than the back of where the original seat was mounted. This
includes Station Wagons. NO gas tank protectors. Also the GAS LINE (if kept in driver’s
compartment) MUST BE RUN THROUGH A LARGER HOSE OR PIPE. IF the line is run under
the car, no protection is required. Also, the tanks will be covered with floor material or of similar
material. Electric fuel pump may be used, must have on and off switch to be marked in red to
indicate cut-off switch.
7. Bumpers must stay STOCK by manufacture and bolted, no reinforcements will be
allowed. FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS WILL NOT BE CUT OR ALTERED WHAT SO EVER.
(Like welding bumper shocks). No trailer hitches will be permitted.
8. Drivers compartment: may have max 3” diameter pipe behind the driver's seat & across the
dash. No kickers to the floor or firewall. Driver's door may be reinforced with a door
bar. Passenger side may have bar inside driver's compartment. All doors may be welded,
exterior only. Maximum 4”x1/4” plate. No welding interior of doors. Doors only, not window
frames or pillars. For additional protection of the driver, we suggest filling the Driver’s Door with
sand. (NO CONCRETE).
9. Suspension must be STOCK and free of all blocks. Suspension must be free from alteration such
as added leaves in leaf springs. NO air shocks, air bags, and coil springs over shocks or welded
shocks.
10. Cutting fenders for wheel clearance only is permitted.
11. Hood and Deck lids must be operable for inspection. Wire or bolts may be used to secure hood
and trunk lid only. After inspection, you can secure the hood and trunk lid. No more than 6
places per hood and per trunk. NO WIRE ALLOWED ANYWHERE ELSE TO REINFORCE CAR.
They must have locks removed and a round hole cut in the center of the hood, not less than 15"
in diameter and not more than 20" in diameter, for fire. (NO CHAINS). Trunk lids either on or off
– no alterations and no tucking. Stock position or none at all.
12. Two deflection bars made of 1/8"x2" flat bar or heavy gauge pipe (no conduit). It must be bolted
(no welding) with at least 3/8" diameter bolts, to the roof and to the firewall area, metal to metal.
This is to protect the driver if the hood should enter the car; also, to protect from another car
entering through the windshield. NON-COMPLIANCE WILL MEAN AUTOMATIC
DISQUALIFICATION.
13. STOCK body mounts must be left on cars!!! Cars entering the inspection area without body
mounts will be AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED and not allowed to run in the Derby. Cars with
rusted body mounts will be allowed to use a round washer no more than three inches in diameter,
and retaining bolts no larger than ½ inch in diameter. No hockey pucks will be permitted.
14. Vehicles must have brakes before beginning of the heat.
15. Aftermarket shifters and transmission coolers ARE permitted. Cooler boxes and fans must be
bolted to body or cage only. Cooler lines and cooler must be covered or protected to protect
driver from rupture.
16. Engine cooling systems may be altered provided they remain under the hood. RADIATOR
“TANKS” MAY BE UTILIZED. MUST RESEMBLE STOCK RADIATOR DIMENSIONS –
APPROX. 4” THICK BY 30” WIDE BY 20” HIGH. NO ROUND OVAL CYLINDRICAL OR
OTHERWISE TYPE TANKS. **MUST MOUNT IN STOCK RADIATOR SUPPORT POSITION
WITH STOCK APPEARING BOLTS AND STRAPS. NO MODIFICATIONS TO FRAME OR
BODY. RADIATOR PRESSURE RELIEF LINES ARE TO POINT TO THE GROUND AND EXIT
BELOW THE CAR. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO ANTIFREEZE IS ALLOWED.
17. First echelon maintenance may be provided between heats. (Example: remove dragging fenders,
changing flat tires permissible). All cars will be inspected before the race and winning cars will
be re-inspected after the race. Feature cars will be PARKED ON THE TRACK AREA IN FRONT
OF THE GRANDSTAND. NO WELDING IS ALLOWED AT ALL.
18. Any tire may be used (with the exception of deep lug tractor tires for safety reasons). Wheel
weights must be removed BEFORE inspection. Valve stem protectors may be used. Studded
tires are not allowed.
19. Once a car is inspected and passes inspection, it will be placed in line up according to its number
on the south end of the infield.
20. NO FLASHING BEACONS DURING RACE ITSELF.
21. One standard automotive battery only. No truck or industrial batteries. It must be SECURELY
fastened before inspection on passenger side floor. Solenoid, regulator, modules, etc. may be
moved, but must remain under the hood and in front of the firewall. Battery must be covered prior
to going through inspection.
22. Exhaust pipes coming up through the hood must point straight up.
23. Additional safety regulations and/or rules may be imposed at race time.
24. Any deliberate infraction of the rules will result in the car being scratched from the heat and the
driver will be banned from racing for three years.
 
3 MAN TEAM COMPACT CLASS RULES
This class will be run in heats and then there will be a feature.
NO ENGINE PROTECTORS ALLOWED OR BEAD LOCKS
1. 108” maximum standard wheel base center to center, no alterations.
 2. Factory gas tanks can stay in, if in front of rear axle.
 3. Four point cage may not extend past the dash bar or more than 18” behind the driver’s seat. Gas tank protectors cannot be any wider than 24 inches and cannot extend past rear seat.
 4. Maximum of a 5 lug rear end.
 5. Bumper straps may be used to securely fasten a bumper on either end of the car. No homemade brackets.
6. Front bumper brackets, if there are not stock to the car they are one they cannot be any longer than 10” . If you run a bumper shock inside a frame it can only be 10 inches long and must have an inspection hole to verify where it stops! You cannot have brackets on the side of frame and a shock bracket inside of the frame.
7. No down bars off of cage.
8. Rear window bars may not be welded to trunk lid. If no trunk lid it must go straight down.
9. Bumpers can be loaded if not a factory bumper, you may use a piece of 4" X 4" square tubing.
10. Doors can be welded solid, trunks can have a maximum of 45".
11. Body cannot be welded to frame or to bumper.
 
 
YOUTH COMPACT CLASS RULES
This class is for the kids AGES 11-16. Bring Birth Certificate in case of a challenge of age. To let them learn to strip cars out and build a car to the rules and sportsmanship win or lose. Upon arrival a notarized parent and/ or legal guardian consent form must be filled out or you will not be allowed to participate. A parent and/ or legal guardian must ride with the driver. This is for instructional purpose as well as a possibly emergency situation.
 1. A factory 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drive only. 108” wheel base max.
 2. Both front doors must be painted white.
 3. Hoods may be wired in six locations. 2 strands of 9 wire per hole. Sheet metal to sheet metal NO frame or bumper. Hoods MUST be open for inspection. Front and rear fenders may be trimmed for clearance. No bolting or welding inner fender to outer fender or rolling fenders.
 4. Drivers and passenger doors can be welded solid. Drivers and Passenger’s front door MUST have a bar or reinforcement on outside of doors, must stop at front doors. All other doors can be welded shut with 2 3”x3” plates OR 6 locations per side 2 strands of 9 wire per hole not both  Sheet metal to sheet metal.
 5. Trunks and tailgates may be wired shut in 6 locations. 2 strands of 9 wire per hole and sheet metal to sheet metal. Hoods MUST be open for inspection. Trunks can have 45” of weld.
 
POWER WHEELS CLASS
This class is for the kids AGES 4-7. Bring Birth Certificate in case of a challenge of age. Upon arrival a notarized parent and/ or legal guardian consent form must be filled out or you will not be allowed to participate. This is a Fun Class to get small kids their first taste, of a Derby, any Power wheels that are too fast or heavy will not be allowed to run. This is for the Kids to have Fun!
 
Power Wheels for Kids 4-7 years old.
Stock, Electric, Regular Size, Power Wheels with up to a 12 volt lawn mower battery. Battery can not be mounted in the passenger seat. 4. Helmets must be worn. 5. All doors, hoods, and tailgates must be strapped shut. 6. Use zip ties or duct tape to fasten shut doors, hood, and trunk. No sharp or protruding edges.
 
Track official and or inspectors decisions are final.
