ENTRIES CLOSE: JULY 20 AT 4 P.M.  MAIL ENTRIES MUST BE  POSTMARKED BY JULY 13, 2012.
ENTRIES: Are to be brought in Sunday, July 29 between 12 Noon and 4 P.M. and Thursday,  August 2 between  9 AM and 12 NOON
PROCEDURE FOR ENTERING PROJECTS: Each exhibitor will be allowed one entry per class. Items must be entered by July 20th at 4 PM. On entry sheet list Dept. 10, the section letter., A  through J and then individual class number. Each project should have a corresponding tag at entry. These are picked up Fri. or Sat. before the fair during office hours.
HAY SHOW JUDGING:  Monday,  July 30 at 9 A.M. at the east end of the produce barn. 
VEGETABLES JUDGING:  Sunday,  July 29 at 5 PM  
                                               Thursday,  August  2  at 1 PM. 
BEES & APIARY JUDGING: Monday,  July 30 at 10 AM.

DISMISSAL TIME: First Show-Wednesday, August 1 at 9:00 P.M.                                                   Second Show-Sunday, August 5 at 8 P.M.-9 P.M.

RULES:
1. Exhibitor must purchase Membership, Season or Mini Ticket
2. All items entered must be either  raised or produced from exhibitor’s farm or garden. Exhibitor  need not be from Medina County.
3. If an exhibitor enters an item and it develops that there are no other items in this category, the exhibitor will not receive a first class award unless the item is first class
4. The judge’s decision is final, any questions arising will be handled by the  Superintendents.
5. No premium money will be paid for items entered that are not in the Premium Book.
6. All exhibits not picked up Sunday night will be discarded. Premium & ribbons will be available at the fair office beginning Tuesday, August 7.

HAY SHOW
Sponsored by the MEDINA COUNTY SOIL AND WATER
CONSERVATION DISTRICT
Hay Show Judging: Monday, July 30 at 9:00 A.M.
 1.  An exhibitor is limited to one entry per listing.
 2.  Exhibits are to be brought in Sunday, July 29 between 12 noon and 4:00 P.M.
 3.  DISMISSAL: Sunday, August 5 from 8 P.M. to 9 P.M.
 4.  Show samples must be selected from this year’s crop.
 5.  ONE unbroken bale of machine tied Hay is required for an
      exhibit in all Jr. & Sr. Classes.
 6.  The judge must eliminate from competition those samples
      which he/she believes would not keep in the unventilated mow.
7. In so far as possible, U.S. Department of Agriculture Hay Standards will be used in judging.
8. Haylage is to be exhibited in PLASTIC BAGS, to be furnished by the MEDINA SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT, and can be picked up at their office or at the Fair Office.
9.     THE  MEDINA  SOIL  AND WATER CONSERVATION  DISTRICT will give 3 Awards: one for Best of Show of Hay, one for Best Haylage, and one for Best of  Show of Hay, Jr. Division, at the time of Fair.
10.  ROSETTES will be given for Best of Show.
11.  All rules apply for both the JUNIOR & SENIOR DIVISIONS.
PREMIUMS: lst-$15; 2nd-$10; 3rd-$7; 4th-$5.
LEGUMES - Alfalfa, Clover, Birdsfoot Trefoil, and other varieties labeled as a legume.
GRASSES - Timothy, Orchard Grass, Bromegrass, Oats, and any other variety that is not a legume.

2.     Any variety of yellow shelled corn.  To be displayed in a clear glass quart jar; Must be labeled as to the variety.
Section D - SOYBEANS
RULES: 
1.   This class is for soybeans grown the previous year (2011).
2.   This class is for Medina and abutting county residents only.
PREMIUMS:  1st-$4; 2nd-$3; 3rd-$2
CLASS:
1.   Any variety of soybeans. To be displayed in a clear glass quart jar.  Must be labeled as to the variety.
 
Section E - WHEAT
RULES:
1.   This class is for wheat grown and harvested in 2011.
2.   This class is for Medina and abutting county residents only.
PREMIUMS: 1st-$4; 2nd-$3; 3rd-$2
CLASS:
1.   Any variety of wheat. To be displayed in a clear glass quart jar.  Must be labeled as to the variety.

SCARECROW CONTEST                                
 
SECTION J - SCARECROW  - To be brought in on Sunday July 29 between Noon and 4 PM
RULES:
1.   Entry must be freestanding.  No seated figures please.
2.   Height must not exceed six feet, nor be below 36 inches.  Depth and width should not exceed 36 inches.
3.   Use of commercial or rubber masks for faces are discouraged.  This will enable scarecrows to have a more hand made look.
NOTE: This contest is designed to be a fun category, with entries expressing the originality and creativity of the exhibitor.  Scarecrows may be lovable, mischievous, etc.

RULES:
1.  Only one entry will be permitted by an exhibitor for any one premium, or any member of his family from the same apiaries or           apiary.
2.       Honey will be judged on quality, cleanliness and aroma.
3. No advantage given for color of honey as long as it is shown in its proper class.
4. Honey to be judged by U.S. Standard grade. Honey color will be judged using the pfund scale used in the honey industry
5. Sweetening used in baked goods must contain 100% honey. Recipe must be attached.

 An Educational Exhibit of  Bees, Bee Equipment, Hives,
Frames, Combs, Smokers, Hats, Gloves, Honey Extractors, and other items.
 
 Display should be completed by 8 PM, Sunday July 29.
Dismissal:  Sunday,  August 5 from 8 PM - 9 PM. Exhibits not  picked up by 9 PM, Sunday will be donated to the  Medina          County Fair Board  for fund raising, unless previously arrangements are made with Medina County Beekeeper's President.
